Amazon is heading to Russia

Amazon is heading to Russia Amazon is reported to be setting up in Russia, with former Azbuka-Atticus publishing CEO Arkady Vitrouk leading its Kindle content. 

Amazon Technologies Inc has applied to the Russian Patent Office to register its trade marks. The scope of activities listed in the application includes: storage, packaging and delivery of goods, the storage of electronic texts and media files, and book publishing and printing.

Forbes Russia, reports that Arkady Vitrouk has been appointed the director of Kindle Content for Amazon in Russia. Mr Vitruk is the former CEO of Azbuka-Atticus, owned by current Waterstones owner Alexander Mamut.

A visit to amazon.ru currently redirects to the company’s main page for Europe.

Earlier this week, Amazon said it was going to open its app store to another 200 markets around the world including Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and South Korea.

Amazon’s PR-director Béatrice Decoudun refused to comment on the news.
