March 25, 2013

On Sunday, 24 March, close to 100 children and parents gathered in a colourfully decorated room at Waterstones Piccadilly at the presentation of Alla Bashenko's new book of poetry for children The Magic World. This event was part of the 4th Russian Literature Festival SLOVO organised in London by Academia Rossica. Guests had a chance to listen to Alla's poems during interactive reading performance by a well known and loved by many actress Dina Korzun. After the readings, children, led by a team of magicians, embarked on a magical journey into the world of the four seasons of the year, their holidays and miracles of nature, and were entertained with themed activities, games, music and dancing.

The author says: "The Magic World - is poetry about happy childhood for the entire family. What an overwhelming joy it is to see that children and parents alike are fond of my books and are bringing them home."

In addition to the book, a musical CD will be released soon, where poems from The Magic World will be read by Dina Korzun. Part of proceeds from book and CD sales will be donated to the Gift of Life charity, dedicated to helping children fight cancer - not only through medical means, but also through art.

The Magic World can now be purchased at the Russian Section at Waterstones Piccadilly book store, located at 203-206 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LE. It is also available on Amazon UK.

This year SLOVO 4 Russian Literature Festival program included such distinguished representatives of modern Russia's literary world as Dmitry Bykov, Mikhail Shishkin, Vera Polozkova and others. Tickets to all events were sold out before the festival even opened.
