A short list for National Bestseller Prize 2012 is announced

A short list for National Bestseller Prize 2012 is announced The Jury of the National Bestseller Prize has announced a short list for 2012 award. The list of six finalists chosen out of 45 entries took the shape that you see here.

The finalists:

• Alexander Terekhov The Germans (12 points)
• Vladimir Lidski Russian sadism (7 points)
• Vladimir Lorchenkov King Solomon's Mines (7 points)
• Marina Stepnova The Women of Lazarus (7 points)
• Sergei Nosov Francoise, or Path to the Glacier (6 points)
• Anna Starobinets The Living (6 points)

Being asked to comment on the decision, Boris Kupriyanov, a member of the Grand Jury Prize said that 'both the long list and the short list reflect the process that takes place in modern literature'. 

The panel of judges that includes a musician Sergey Schnurov, a writer Zahar Prilepin, a music critic Artem Troitsky, a filmmaker Karen Shakhnazarov, a literary critic Dmitry Olshansky, and a rock musician Mikhail Rodionov will chose the laureate who is to be officially announced on 5 th July.
